A three-unit building in Corona, Queens, and the family's first multifamily acquisition.

This is where the commercial real estate portfolio starts. Jeffery has supported the family's investments since high school, and the line runs directly from negotiating its first restaurant lease to buying this building — the point at which operating a business and owning the property under it stopped being two separate activities for this family.

Queens is also where the family's New York restaurant is — Umiya in Long Island City, the same borough as this building. That is the shape of the whole portfolio: the property sits where the operating business already is. And it started here, with a small building bought by a family whose experience of commercial real estate until then had come entirely from the tenant's side of the table.
